One of the best features of the Whirlpool GC5SHAXVS is that it is ENERGY STAR-qualified. This means that the refrigerator model consumes less energy, saving natural resources and saving you some money on your electricity bills.
The In-Door-Ice Plus feature is an ice dispensing system that is built into the freezer door, resulting in a 30% capacity increase in the freezer compartment. Also, this system is designed to give you quick and easy access any time you need ice.
The refrigerator also has an electronic ice and water dispenser with LCD controls right on the door of the freezer. On the interior, you’ll also find electronic controls for temperature.
Another feature is the clear design of the crisper, meat pan, snack pan, and door bins. The clear material used makes it easy to see your fridge contents and many of these parts are adjustable so you can configure your fridge’s interior the way you like.
The freezer also has a built-in Pulse Defrost System. This helps minimize temperature swings in the freezer by cycling the evaporator heater on and off when in defrost mode. The results are lower energy consumption, less freezer burn, and fewer ice crystals.
Some of the other features of the this side-by-side refrigerator model include the tilt-out freezer storage, slide-out freezer baskets, automatic ice maker, automatic LED night-light for the dispenser, and an indicator light for a water filter change.

The main advantage of the Whirlpool GC5SHAXVS is that it is a side-by-side refrigerator with a solid set of features and functions.
A good capacity of 24.5 cubic feet coupled with the adjustability of bin and tray placement makes for a flexible fridge.
The built-in ice and water dispenser system as well as the electronic controls and LCD display make for a good combination of a modern look with modern amenities.
One of the things that this Whirlpool model is lacking is a frostless design. Instead of including the pulse defrost system, some consumers would rather have a frostless freezer.
Another disadvantage of the system is that it creates a lot of sound, most noticeably from the compressor. Some consumers said that they had to return their fridge and opt for another brand.
Because Whirlpool mentioned that the noise problem was innate in the design of the refrigerator, the noise could not be fixed.
